This Will Change E-Commerce Forever

Welcome to the Monday trends edition of Leveling Up!

The future of online shopping is here.

AI is transforming how we shop online, making it more personalized, convenient, and efficient.

In this newsletter, we'll look at some of the ways AI is changing e-commerce and what the future holds for this rapidly evolving industry.

No matter if you’re a:

  • E-commerce store owner

  • High-level employee at an e-commerce store

  • Or just an online shopper…

This trend of the week will impact your life in a major way.

AI-Powered Online Shopping

Online shopping, for all its benefits, has one major flaw:

It can be overwhelming.

The sheer number of options and information available is too much for most people to handle—leading to rushed decisions and lost savings.

Now you can enjoy a personal AI shopping assistant that offers buying guides tailormade to your needs.

Plus, you can ask Bing Chat any question about a product and receive a summary of what people say about it online.

Already, Microsoft reports they’ve offered $3.7 billion in savings to shoppers worldwide in the last year thanks to their existing built-in shopping features like Coupons, Cashback, Price History, and Price Comparison.

And we expect these new AI-powered tools to break that savings record.

But, of course, there’s an elephant in the room:

We’re still talking about Microsoft Edge and Bing here.

What About Google?

Let’s give credit where credit is due.

Microsoft is doing a phenomenal job upgrading its Edge browser alongside Bing to include these new AI features.

However.

According to the latest research done by W3Counter, Google Chrome is demolishing Microsoft Edge in usage stats—by 75.7% vs. 2.6%:

And it’s a similar story with Google search vs Bing.

Google comfortably leads the way (with a slight decline).

That’s why, as groundbreaking as many of Microsoft’s updates have been, AI-powered shopping won’t affect the mainstream until Google makes a move.

Google is implementing AI in several ways to improve shopping, including:

  • Personalized product recommendations: Google uses AI to recommend products to users based on their past purchase history, browsing behavior, and interests.

And:

  • Smart search: For example, Google's "Multisearch" feature allows users to search for products by image and text.

But they are also introducing brand new AI-powered features like virtual try-on features that allow users to see how clothes will look on them before they buy:

Considering that 71% of online shoppers believe clothing sizes are inconsistent among brands, and nearly a quarter of all orders are returned for ordering the wrong size (even when using a size guide)—it’s clear:

This Could Save Millions In Lost Revenue

If you’re an online fashion retailer, your life will get easier.

But even if you’re an e-commerce store owner in a different industry, AI-powered shopping experiences can also improve your conversions.

For example:

Shopify recently released a tool for AI-generated product descriptions.

And we’re still just at the tip of the iceberg.

The future of e-commerce will undoubtedly feature many AI-powered experiences that make shopping easier and increase profits.

But there’s a catch.

Using AI can transform your e-commerce business and unlock new sources of revenue—if you dedicate yourself to learning the latest strategies and tools.

Our job here at Leveling Up is to make that easier for you.
