How To Increase Your AOV By 77% With Zero Effort

Clue: It Has Nothing To Do With Pricing Structure

Happy Thursday, folks!

As usual, we have a bite-sized actionable idea you can start implementing today.

So just the other day, one of our team members flew from Singapore to Taiwan for a vacation.

To secure internet connectivity for the entire trip, he opted to rent a portable WiFi device from a local shop.

Nothing special so far, right?

Well, here’s the interesting bit…

At the checkout page, there was an add-on at the bottom named “Loss Coverage”.

It had a link that pointed to the costs incurred if the device or any of its components were lost…

For illustration, if the main device is lost, it would cost the customer $218.

But if the customer pays an additional $7.30, the cost of losing the device or any of its components is nullified.

For the customer, this is a huge incentive as the fear of losing the device is very real, and the penalty of $218 is a pretty huge sting.

So our team member instinctively purchased the add-on without much deliberation.

That’s a minimum increase of 19.3% to the AOV for a 7-day rental.

And if it were two trips with two portable WiFi devices rented, that would be a 77% increase to the AOV.

So there are two lessons here:

1. Add-ons can be literally anything that gives your customers peace of mind, and they’ll gladly pay for it.

2. There’s lots of money left on the table if you don’t fully think through your sales funnels to provide maximum value.

If you’re not confident with implementing any of the above lessons, this is where we can help.

At our full-service marketing agency Single Grain, we look for low-hanging fruits and holes in your marketing funnels.

We don’t just fix them, we push them to their maximum potential by optimizing them and setting up systems.

We’ll work with you to generate more recurring revenue for your company.

See you again tomorrow,
