How to Get Mr. Beast-Level CTRs on YouTube

From Viewers to Customers

Happy Friday,

I shared this idea on Twitter yesterday, and people liked it, so I wanted to talk about it more in this email. Here is the original post with some additional thoughts. I hope you enjoy it and have a great end to your week 🙂

Typically a ‘good’ CTR for my YT channel is 5-6%…

But occasionally, I see 10% Mr. Beast-like bangers like this one.

Sometimes what really matters is the idea total addressable market (TAM).

The larger the idea, the better the video will perform.

But it’s also important to pair your idea TAM with your revenue TAM.

Idea TAM vs. Revenue TAM: Striking the Right Balance

Idea TAM represents the overall size of the market for a particular concept or solution. It encompasses the total number of potential customers or users who could benefit from your offering.

On the other hand, revenue TAM focuses on the potential revenue you can generate from this market.

It considers the buying power, willingness-to-pay, and conversion rates of your target audience.

The key to achieving high CTRs and maximizing your content's impact lies in striking a balance between idea TAM and revenue TAM.

While a broad idea TAM can attract a wider audience, it might not translate into direct revenue if your monetization strategy is not well-aligned.

Conversely, a narrow focus on revenue TAM might limit your reach and growth potential.

But it’s also important to pair your idea TAM with your revenue TAM.

For example, I have an ad agency, and we have customers with a higher LTV.

Customers could be worth 6-7+ figures.

The idea here is big enough (SEO is dying; here’s the new channel) that I’d get more views than I normally do while also being able to bring in the right audience that might purchase in the future because it’s a potentially new idea in my niche (marketing).

If you’re going for pure reach, strive to maximize your idea TAM.

If you’re going for conversion, strive to maximize your revenue TAM.

If you want a bit of both, mix them.
